William Doyle Russell

William Doyle Russell age 87 of Louisville, KY, formerly of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Wednesday August 8, 2018 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born June 29, 1931 in Hollis, OK the son of the late C.W. Russell and Narvis Nelms Russell. Doyle served his country in the U.S. Army for over 20 years . Upon his retirement he had attained the rank of Major. He served as a paratrooper and saw action in Vietnam. He is a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville and was attending the Hikes Point Christian Church in Louisville. He is survived by his wife Emma Howard Russell of Louisville; sons Dale Russell (Hansi) of Clarksville; Danny Russell (Vicki) of Kansas City, MO; Darrel Russell (Julie) of Little Rock, AR; step sons Bob Howard (Jeannie) of Vancouver, WA ; Don Howard (Lynn) of Bardstown, KY; Danny Howard (Mary Kay) of Nicholasville, KY; and Brad Howard (Nancy) of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are two sisters Betty Fowler and Loraine Crews and six grandchildren, Darby Walden, David Russell, Corey Russell, Josh Russell, Courtney Russell, and Hillary Bazyk. Also surviving are 15 great grandchildren as well as several step grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Doyle is preceded in death by his late wife Gloria Thaxton Russell who passed in 2011 and a great grandchild, Josiah Nash Russell. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be conducted on Tuesday August 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Doyle"s grandson Corey Russell will officiate.
