Shirley Ann McDermott

Shirley Ann McDermott, age 48, a former resident of Clarksville, passed away on Thursday July 2, 2015 at her home in Columbia, Maryland. She was born April 26, 1967 in Ft. Campbell, KY, the daughter of Sara Ann Littleton Gibbs of Clarksville and the late Douglas E. Gibbs. Shirley grew up in Clarksville and is a 1985 graduate of Northwest High School. She later received a degree as a radiation therapist from Pitt College in North Carolina. Shirley served in the Air Force from 1990-1994 in the medical corps. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband CW4 Sean P. McDermott to whom she was married July 28, 1995. Shirley is also survived by her daughter Breanna Shea McDermott, at home; two brothers Rodney Davis & Liz of Castle Rock, CO; and Douglas Gibbs II & Carla of Clarksville; two sisters, Toni Frazier & Steve of Dunlap, TN; and Wanda Langley & Steve of Clarksville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday July 8, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Gateway Funeral Home with Pastor James Dean of the Springfield Baptist Church officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:oo p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
