Otis Mohr Watson, son of the late Otis Mohr Watson, Sr. and Dotten Ridicks Rucker was born on June 2, 1938 in Lynchburg, VA as an only child. He was educated in the Lynchburg school system and was raised in Washington, DC. After graduating college, Otis joined the United States Army and served his country, retiring after 22 years of honorable service. He met his first wife, Ava N. Ramey Watson while stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. Together they raised 3 beautiful daughters, traveling all over the world. Later in life, Otis married his second wife, Wanda Jane Fraizer Watson. After retirement, Otis pursued a career in Law Enforcement with the Clarksville Police Department, Clarksville Sheriff's Department and APSU Campus Police.
Otis was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather and secure in his Catholic faith. He loved the outdoors to include a beautiful yard, fishing and golfing. He loved music, playing pool, clean cars, decorating and was a devoted Washington (Washington Redskins) fan. Otis was the “ All American Hero” and will be dearly loved and cherished by all and will be truly missed.
Otis is preceded in death by his parents, loving first wife, Ava N. Watson and grandson, Brandon Irick. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Yvonne “Rene” Brown of Tampa, FL, Kim Thomas of Clarksville, TN , Valerie (Sean) Irick of Tampa, FL; Best Friend, Donald (Rose) Pettross; grandchildren, Jaci D. Quincy of Atlanta, GA, Brandi Redus of Clarksville, TN , Christopher Thomas of Clarksville, TN, Brittney Wood of Washington, DC; great grandchildren, Tahjay Anwahr Sherman, Kylie-Ann Rene’e Redus (his “Katapillar”), Hadassah “Gracie” Redus, Katyln Claire Redus and Ethan Jasper Redus “My Twin”.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 11:30 AM at the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Elder David English officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full Military Honors.
Family and friends are invited to the repass at the Clarksville Regional Airport located at 200 Airport Road, Clarksville, TN 37042 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
