Sarah Elizabeth Downs

Sarah Elizabeth Downs, 81, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Signature Healthcare. She was born in November 1941 in Southside, TN, to the late George Lewis Coppedge and Lila Mae Street Coppedge. Sarah was a 1960 graduate from Clarksville High School. She was a jack of all trades; working at Frosty Morn, Odoms Sausage Company, Rossview Middle School cafeteria, and finally at Sams Club as a greeter until her retirement.

She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Struckmeyer, two grandchildren, Anthony Papke (Ashley), and Gage Struckmeyer (Carley), two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two children, Carolyn Papke and Allen Downs; five brothers, Keith, Charles, Paul, George, and Gary Coppedge, and three sisters, Dorothy Frey, Hazel Edwards, and Jeanette Gregory.

In lieu of a service, the family requests that you honor Sarah/Liz/Libby by spending cherished time with your family and friends or participating in an activity that brings you joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Sarah/Liz/Libby by giving to others, whether it be donating to your favorite charity or performing random acts of kindness, or purchasing something for yourself that brings you joy, whether it be flowers for your yard (Sarah loved purple irises), dining out, or an occasional milk shake (Sarah loved strawberry).
