Roger Paul Deffendall

Roger Paul Deffendall age 76, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Monday May 3, 2021 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.  He was born November 4, 1944 in Plymouth, England, the son of the late Linden Paul Deffendall and Edith Joan Bunt Deffendall.  Roger worked for many years as an electrical lineman for municipalities in Indiana, Tennessee, and Alaska.  He attends at Grace Church of the Nazarene where he served as an usher.  His hobbies include old trucks and collecting pocket knives.  He and his family befriended many people over the years, many of whom called him “Papaw”.

 Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Valeria Kay Lane Deffendall of Clarksville; his sons Kevin Dean Deffendall (Sara) of Clarksville; Roger Wayne Deffendall (Billie Jo) of Washington State; and Anthony Ruff (Gina) of Lee, FL.  Also surviving are brothers Ed Deffendall of Petersburg, IN and Lee Deffendall of Petersburg, IN; and a sister Debbie Underhill of Spencer, IN.  Roger is blessed with four grandchildren, Justin Deffendall (Brandi); Cody Deffendall; Katlin Deffendall; and Taylor Deffendall; as well as one great grandchild Cayden Deffendall.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Reggie Deffendall and a sister Sue Selby. 

Memorial services for Roger will be conducted on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 12 noon at the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Cook and Pastor Alex Rudolph officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday. An interment will follow on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, IN. The graveside will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Alex Rudolph officiating.
