Jackie Ray Holder
Age 68, of Cunningham, Tennessee, born December 19, 1956, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Known affectionately as J.R. by those close to him, he was a talented musician and entertainer, playing guitar, saxophone, and many other instruments. He had a deep love for music, singing, and dancing the Two Step. Passionate about history—particularly the Civil War—as well as science, metalworking, and sculpting, J.R. possessed a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories. He cultivated a sense of adventure in his children, inspiring them to explore the world. His great imagination and heart of gold made him a cherished figure in the lives of those who knew him. J.R. was also known for his memorable sayings, such as "I Am Whut I Am" and "I Had Fun."
He adored his Boston Terriers and held his family, especially his grandchildren, close to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Giles Holder; parents, John Thomas and Gracie Eden Holder; and brothers, Dexter, Kenneth, and Thomas Holder.
J.R. is survived by his children, Jackie Shannon Holder, Katherine Holder, and Raymond Holder; grandchildren, Jethia, Jackzin, Jareth, Elijah, and Abigail Holder; his brother, John Holder; as well as extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
