Gwendolyn Clay Evans age 76 of Clarksville passed away on Thursday January 11, 2018 at her residence. She was born March 31, 1941 in New Orleans, LA. She lived many years in California. She was a homemaker and was happiest when helping others by putting a smile on their faces. She loved to dance, dance, dance. She was the one who always tried to cheer you up when you were down. She loved everyone and was a people person. She is survived by her children, August Harris of California; Jessie Williams of Clarksville; Lonzo Greer of Clarksville; Lynn Harris of California; LaTanya Williams of Clarksville; Betty Williams of California; and Erlinda Williams of Houston, TX. She was the best Mother in the world and always put her children first. She is also survived by brothers Kenneth Simmons, Wendell Simmons, Howard Simmons of California and Terry Johnson of Arizona. Sisters, Myrtle Clay, April Simmons and Cynthia Simmons all of California. She is also blessed with 25 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 36 great great grandchildren. The family will host a visitation time on Sunday January 14, 2018 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center 335 Franklin Street Clarksville, TN 37040. Phone 931-919-2600.
