Gloria Anna Romero Maldonado

Gloria Anna Romero Maldonado, age 91, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at her home. She was born May 15, 1930, in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Ruperto Romero and Andrea Gonzales Romero. For 25 years, Gloria was married to veteran Emilio Maldonado. She adored her children and would frequently work three jobs to support her family. Gloria cleaned offices and worked in food services at Fort Campbell. She enjoyed having her family and friends visit her, and they were always offered exquisite homemade dishes from her country, Puerto Rico. She had the heart of a servant. Gloria was a dedicated Catholic who served for over 20 years at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Oak Grove, Kentucky, under the direction of Father Julian, with whom she had a strong bond. Gloria always placed God first in her life. She had a large family in the Lord, with many sisters and brothers. She loved growing flowers and vegetables in her garden and would gladly share the harvest with others. She adored her children and grandchildren especially.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her daughters; Rayme Shapiro (Michael) of Santa Rosa, CA, Rosalina Freeman of Parrotsville, TN, and Carmen Holmes (Gary) of Ashland City, TN; 9 sisters; Blanca, Adalina, Iris, Miguelina, Alba, Doris, Edith, Adelaida, and Mirin, 2 brothers; Celso and Ramón, grandchildren; Carrie McFarland, Sean McFarland (Jamie), Penina Shapiro, Naydia Shapiro, Maritsa Green (David), Randall Freeman (Jessica), Amy Freeman-Beck, Eric Maldonado, Phillip Cook (Maria), Addie Carlisle (JC), Shea Holmes, Sara Moore (Johnathan), and Jeremy Holmes, 11 great-grandchildren, and she is also survived by wonderful neighbors and sisters in the Lord who assisted her during the early stages of dementia when she was still living at home.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her previous spouse of 25 years, Emilio Maldonado, her son, Robert Paul Maldonado, one infant sister, and two grandchildren, Matthew Stephens and Jessica Holmes.

A funeral service will be held at Gateway Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. with visitation for one hour prior, with Father Julian officiating. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
