Frances Carol McCarthy age 77 of Clarksville, who touched the hearts of many, passed away on Sunday May 5, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville. She was born October 6, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of the late Howard James and Myra Walters. Fran lived for many years in Charleston, SC and while there she worked at the Robert Bosch Corporation. After coming to Clarksville, she was employed at a local motel as the breakfast hostess. She is a member of the CMT ABATE and the American Legion. She was known to many as "Granny Franny". Survivors include her sons Tracy James Porter of Clarksville and Thomas Alan Porter (Lisa) of Clarksville. Also surviving are daughters Linda Sims-Douglas (Dan) of Boise, ID and twin daughters Anita Marie Porter of Warwick, RI; and Elaine Claire McBee (Anthony) of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by brothers Dave Walters of Idaho Falls, ID; and Steven Walters of Shelley, ID; and sisters JoAnn Watson of Salt Lake City, UT; and Viola Brown of Modesto, CA. Fran is blessed with nine grandchildren Steven Porter; Jonathan Porter; Sarah McKenna; Jonathan McKenna; Andrew McBee; Marie McBee; Carl McBee; Haleigh Douglas; and Hunter Douglas as well as three step grandchildren, Desiree Yarbrough; Christopher Wright; and Megan Powers as well as 17 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Fran is preceded in death by her first husband Archibald Thomas Porter and her second husband Richard A. McCarthy. Also preceding in death is a brother Jon Walters and two sisters Faye Gray and Janis Walters. Fran will be laid to rest with her beloved Rick McCarthy at the Kentucky Veteran Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY on Thursday May 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Immediately following, there will be a celebration of her life at the American Legion located at 14633 Ft. Campbell Blvd in Oak Grove, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
