Elizabeth Ann Nicholson

Elizabeth Ann Nicholson age 85 of Clarksville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 15, 2020 at her residence, being cared for by her loving family. She was born September 3, 1935 in Clarksville, the daughter of the late R.J. Wallace and Beulah Williams Wallace. Elizabeth received her education in the Montgomery County Public School System and received her licensure of Cosmetology from Annie B. Clark Beauty School. She was a member of The Chapter 16 Beautician's Club, and The Tennessee Club. She joined Mt. Herman C. M. E. Methodist Church where she was an active member and later became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, both in Clarksville, Tennessee. She is survived by her son Arthur "Nick" Nicholson of Clarksville; and a brother John Raymond (Ruby) Wallace of Adams, TN. She is also blessed with five grandchildren, Bryan Russell Nicholson, Alicia McGougan (James), Adrienna McGougan (Tony), Antonio McGougan, and Aaron McGougan; as well as five great grandchildren, Samiyah, Aniyah, Semaj, London and Christian, and a son-in-law, Antonio McGougan, Sr. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Nicholson; her daughter Latonia McGougan; and sisters Dorothy Sue Bowers and Georgia Mae Loudermill. Elizabeth was known and loved by many through her profession and church family. Though we are deeply saddened by her passing, those who loved her are happy for the life they shared with her and will forever cherish her memories. God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered, "Peace Be Thine". The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights are passed. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday December 18, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 10 AM until the time of services at 12:00. Burial will be at the Mt. Hermon AME Church Cemetery on Hickory Point Road in Clarksville.
