Defonso Boyd Cooksey

Defonso Boyd Cooksey, age 50, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at his home. He was born on January 19, 1973 in Erin, TN to Brenda Carter and the late Harold Cooksey. Defonso graduated from Houston County High School in 1991. He loved sports and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother and step-father, Brenda and Melvin Stacker; his wife, Laraye Cooksey; children, DeVanta Bellamy, Jasmine (Craig) Cooksey-Tipton, and Destiny Cooksey; siblings, Melvin C. (Emily) Stacker and Juantrica B. Stacker, a grand-dog, Asher; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Defonso is preceded in death by his father, Harold Cooksey; maternal grandparents, George and Beatrice Carter; paternal grandparents, William and Frances Cooksey, and step-grandmother, Juanita Stacker.

Funeral services will be held at Gateway Funeral Home on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Erin Cemetery in Erin, TN.
