Carney Wesley Edwards

Carney Wesley Edwards age 92 of Clarksville, passed away on Thursday February 8, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Erin. He was born April 26, 1925 in Woodlawn, TN the son of the late Herbert J. "Dick" Edwards and Mary Farley Edwards. Carney served his country during WW II in the Army for two years. He worked for many years with Long Construction Company and Mark Young Appraisal Company. He was known in the Clarksville area as an excellent backhoe operator. He was a Baptist and was devoted to his family. Survivors include his son Jerry Edwards (Sheryl) of Clarksville; daughters Mary Byard (Tommy) of Cumberland Furnace; Betsy Edwards of Dover; JoAnn Dupree Mosley (Greg) of Clarksville; and Paula Bradish (Mark) of Clarksville. He is also survived by a brother Bobby Edwards of Baltimore, MD; sisters Dorothy Hale of Piedmont, MO; and Sue Mobley of St. Joseph, TN. Carney is also blessed with 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Hazel Coppedge Edwards who passed away April 5, 1984 and a brother Benny Edwards. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday February 10, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home with Brother Joel Nulty officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 P.M. and again on Saturday from 11 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home.
