Billy J. Bumpus

Billy J. Bumpus age 81, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Tuesday June 29, 2021 at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville.  He was born January 18, 1940 in Clarksville, the son of the late Douglas Bumpus and Alma Stone Bumpus.  Billy worked as a machinist for 39 years with Smithfield Manufacturing in Clarksville.  He attended Spring Creek Baptist Church.  Billy is survived by his daughter Wendy Bumpus of Clarksville; and his sister Virginia Bakos of Clarksville.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Clara Haley Bumpus who passed away in 2008 and his brother Lawrence Bumpus.  Private family funeral services with burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens will be conducted on Thursday July 1, 2021.  Arrangements are under the care of Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center  335 Franklin Street  Clarksville, TN  37040.  Phone 931-919-2600.  Online condolences may be made by going to www.gatewayfh.com.
