Alfred "Chief" Lackey, age 75, passed away at his residence in Clarksville on Tuesday, June 9th, 2015. He was born in Columbus, GA on November 17th, 1939 to the late Minnie Carter Lackey. He served his country in the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant for 35 years, and even though he lived in many places, he called Detroit, MI home. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion in Detroit.
In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by two wives, Roberta Lackey and Rita Marie Lackey; one daughter, Patricia Denise Santiago; a brother, Donald Lackey, two sisters, Minnie Carter and Sarah Tolbert; and a grandson, Omar Santiago.
He is survived by his children, two sons, Christopher Lackey of Tampa, FL, Richard Lackey (Onita) of Clarksville; one daughter, Constance Barber (Antonio) of Clarksville; two brothers, Ray and Jerry Carter both of Detroit; and three sisters, Olivia Davis, Judy Carter, and Marguerite Lackey Stephens, all of Detroit. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Tiffany Lackey Thomas, Robert J. Scarbrough, Twinkle Lackey and James Lackey; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at James Cole Home for Funerals, 16100 Schaefer Highway, Detroit, MI, on Friday June 19th, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Detroit Memorial Park cemetery in Warren, MI with military honors. Visitation with the family will be at 12:00 p.m. on June 19th until the hour of service.
